NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to collaborate on the development of renewable energy and green hydrogen projects across the state. The agreement was signed on January 22, 2026, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting held in Davos, Switzerland. The MoU marks a significant step toward expanding clean energy infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and supporting India’s transition to sustainable energy sources.

The MoU was executed by Vijay Kiran Anand, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of Invest UP and UPSIDA, on behalf of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and DMR. Panda, Executive Director, representing NTPC Green Energy Limited. The signing took place in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Suresh Kumar Khanna, along with senior officials from the Uttar Pradesh Government and representatives from NTPC and NGEL.

Under the agreement, NTPC Green Energy Limited and the Government of Uttar Pradesh will explore opportunities to develop large-scale renewable energy projects as well as green hydrogen initiatives within the state. The collaboration aims to leverage NTPC’s technical expertise and project execution capabilities alongside the state government’s policy support and infrastructure facilitation.

This partnership is expected to contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy targets, promote sustainable industrial growth, and support the development of green hydrogen as a key component of India’s future energy ecosystem. The initiative also aligns with national objectives for decarbonisation, energy security, and the creation of green jobs.

NTPC Green Energy Limited continues to expand its renewable portfolio across the country, focusing on solar, wind, and emerging clean energy technologies. The MoU with Uttar Pradesh reinforces NGEL’s commitment to working with state governments to accelerate the deployment of clean energy solutions and build a resilient, low-carbon energy framework.

NTPC Green Energy Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility. Established to spearhead the company’s clean energy initiatives, NGEL focuses on the development and management of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and emerging technologies like hydrogen and battery storage.
