Energy failures delaying green iron and hydrogen ambitions


Companies at the flagship hub for developing Western Australia’s green metal and hydrogen sectors are burning diesel to get enough power because the state-run grid can’t supply enough energy to the fast-growing industrial zone just outside Perth.

The Kwinana Industries Council, which represents some of WA’s biggest energy consumers and chemical producers, said an absence of reliable grid access was complicating investment decisions in the precinct, the Western Trade Coast, and revealed some companies are already unable to run at full capacity.
