The project, developed in partnership with Crossbridge Energy Fredericia, marks a milestone in Europe’s clean energy transition.
Everfuel has officially inaugurated the HySynergy plant in Fredericia, Denmark, marking the country’s first green hydrogen export to Germany. The large-scale electrolysis facility, developed in collaboration with Crossbridge Energy Fredericia, is among the first in Europe to produce certified RFNBO (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin) hydrogen at an industrial level.
The inauguration was celebrated at the HySynergy site with the participation of Danish Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen, the Japanese Ambassador to Denmark Hideki Uyama, Fredericia Mayor Christian Bro, and leaders from the Danish and European energy sectors.
“HySynergy is a symbol of Denmark leading the way in Europe’s green transition,” said Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO and founder of Everfuel. “We have now shown that green hydrogen can be produced at industrial scale, delivered to industry – and exported.”
The plant supplies green hydrogen directly to the Crossbridge Energy refinery in Fredericia, where it is already being used to reduce CO₂ emissions in liquid fuel production. “We already use 35 tonnes of hydrogen per day in our production. That hydrogen is produced from fossil crude oil, but it can be replaced with green hydrogen, and we are already doing so in practice,” said Finn Schousboe, CEO of Crossbridge Energy.
HySynergy represents the first step in Everfuel’s long-term vision to build over 2 GW of electrolysis capacity in Denmark by 2035, including the planned Project Frigg in Revsing Energy Park, to supply hydrogen directly to German industrial customers once the cross-border hydrogen pipeline becomes operational around 2030.
