«The green hydrogen sector stands as one of the dynamic and promising challenges that Morocco is banking on to achieve a sustainable energy transition», emphasized Leila Benali, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, on Wednesday in Marrakech.
During the inauguration of the 5th edition of the World Power-to-X Summit (Power-to-X 2025), Leila Benali outlined the national strategy for green hydrogen, noting that this transformation hinges on legislative and institutional adaptability. She highlighted the laws and reforms the government is enacting to align with global trends in clean energy.
In this context, she affirmed that Morocco’s hosting of this international summit underscores its ambition to emerge as a future producer and exporter of clean energy. She pointed out that the nation is steadily advancing towards a leadership role in the global green hydrogen market.
Furthermore, the minister remarked that Morocco is well-placed to become a center of scientific research and innovation in green energy, thanks to its robust research infrastructure and its academic and industrial networks. This positions the country as a prime venue for international cooperation in this crucial sector.
The World Power-to-X Summit seeks to promote collaboration, creativity, and exchange in the green hydrogen sector, while exploring strategies to expedite the global energy transition.
Organized by the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and in collaboration with the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen), Cluster Green H2, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), this event provides a platform for interregional cooperation, investment, and innovation.
