NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from global and Indian developers to establish green hydrogen and green chemical projects within India’s first National Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam.
Scale and Scope of the Pudimadaka Hub
The Pudimadaka hub, developed by NGEL, is planned to produce 2.5 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) of green chemicals, including green ammonia, methanol, eSAF, and green urea. Key infrastructure components include:
*7 GW electrolyser capacity
*7.5 GW GIS substations and transmission lines from CTU substation
*Captive port/jetty and desalination plant
*Chemical storage, logistics facilities, utilities, and common industrial infrastructure
This comprehensive setup will support large-scale industrial operations while promoting sustainable energy use.
Eligibility and Project Requirements
To qualify, developers must source renewable energy, water, and other key inputs exclusively from NGEL. NGEL will arrange green power supply for the energy-intensive hub from Andhra Pradesh, ensuring seamless integration of clean energy into the projects.
Collaboration and Agreements
Following the evaluation and shortlisting of EoI submissions, NGEL will enter into agreements with selected developers, which may include:
*Land sub-lease agreements
*Renewable energy power sale agreements
*Water supply agreements
*Green hydrogen, green ammonia, and biogenic CO₂ supply agreements
Potential joint venture agreements
As reported by pv-magazine-india.com, the collaborative framework aims to enable large-scale deployment of green chemicals and hydrogen, supporting India’s energy transition and industrial decarbonisation objectives.
