The subsidized electrolyzers, with a capacity of between 5 and 10 megawatts, will in future produce, among other things, hydrogen for corresponding filling stations where hydrogen trucks can also refuel. from

Eleven companies will receive a total of €65 million in support as part of the second funding call for Bavarian electrolyzer funding. Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger presented the corresponding funding certificates to the companies on April 28.
Aiwanger, said:
With the new electrolyzers, we are laying the foundation for a strong domestic hydrogen economy,
Freistatt aims to use this funding to develop an electrolyzer infrastructure. These technical systems use energy to split water into its components, hydrogen and oxygen.
The projects selected in the second funding call envisage the construction of electrolyzers with an electrical output of between five and ten megawatts. They were particularly convincing in terms of funding efficiency—that is, the projected hydrogen production volume per euro of funding invested, according to the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs . Additional criteria included cost-effectiveness, sustainability , technological feasibility, and the regional use of the hydrogen.
The companies currently receiving funding include:
- Airport Energy Management GmbH (Unterallgäu)
- Energie Schwaben GmbH (Augsburg, Neu-Ulm, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen)
- Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH (Schweinfurt)
- hy.1 GmbH & Co. KG/GP JOULE (Augsburg)
- Fahrner Energy GmbH (Straubing-Bogen)
- Steelworks Annahütte Max Aicher GmbH & Co. KG (Berchtesgadener Land)
- PAC Jasper GmbH & Co. KG (Bamberg)
- ESB Renewable Energies GmbH (Fürstenfeldbruck)
- SUW Energie GmbH (Neu-Ulm)
Aiwanger, emphasized:
The selected companies impressively demonstrate how significant progress can be achieved with innovative strength and entrepreneurial drive,
“The hydrogen from the supported plants can be used directly in industry, heating, and mobility, thus making a tangible contribution to the decarbonization of our economy.”
Among the funded projects are several companies whose hydrogen production will be made available for refueling at their own public hydrogen filling stations, for example, for trucks . This includes the Tyczka Hydrogen project. In addition to supplying its own filling stations, the company also plans to make the hydrogen produced available to regional industry.
